We are both from the London/Middlesex area. We met at college in Bristol. For a while we lived in North Hill in Cornwall and were members of the local history group. Ken designed, wrote and delivered the group's website.

St Olave's School - Garden Fete and Sports 1896

This page has been prompted by the two rare documents advertising a garden fete in support of Guy's Hospital which was held at the cricket ground of St Olave's School and show the events taking place on the day.

Shuttleworth's Chocolate Factory, Bermondsey

Shuttleworths was a chocolate manufactory on Galleywall Road in Bermondsey. Many local mothers worked here and brought broken chocolate home for the family.

Peek Frean's was a biscuit manufactory on Drummond Road in Bermondsey. Many local mothers worked here and brought broken biscuits home for the family.

Mint Street Workhouse, Southwark

This workhouse featured strongly in the lives of the Ripper family in Victorian times. Mary Ann Ripper was born there on Christmas Day 1851 and died just 11 days later.

St Mary Aldermanbury and Joseph Lucas

In 1794 Teresa's 4xGt Grandparents were married here. Having been blitzed during WW2 the church was rebuilt in Fulton, Missouri and is now the National Churchill Museum, dedicated to Sir Winston Churchill.
